Zoologists Learning about Habitats!

Hello Parents!

It was wonderful having you all here during parent teacher conferences. We would like to share with you more in depth some of the work our students have been doing over the past few weeks!

First, students were introduced the word, "Zoologist". Through looking at pictures and videos, we learned how Zoologists take care of animals. Below are some photos of students using their imagination to be Zoologists.

Next, since our students were interested in learning more about Penguins, we decided to dig deeper into our inquiry by focusing on Penguins and how Zoologists care for them.

Students started by using books to look for clues as to where Penguins live.

Did you know that Penguins live not only in the South Pole (Antarctica), but there are Penguins that also live in warm weather! Some live in South Africa on the Beach, and others live in places like New Zealand in a Rain Forest.

After discovering these habitats of Penguins, students used loose parts to create one of the habitats they had learned about.

Next up we are digging deeper into the appearance of Penguins. Can't wait!

Love,
Room 1 and 2
