Crazy about Penguins!

Hi families! Check out what we have been up to the past couple of weeks in the kinder room!

Our inquiry into Penguins continues as the students worked together to paint the different parts of their habitats that will later be displayed on one of the walls in our classroom!

Some students created either the water, rocks, or mountains, of varying colours and used the skill of "dabbing" (using sponges) to create certain effects.

Students worked in groups looking at pictures of different types of penguins. They discussed similarities and differences, building on their knowledge of the appearance of penguins. After, students worked in pairs to figure out the parts of a penguin!

They used a checklist to help them identify the part and spell the word.

Did you know that Penguins eat sea creatures other than fish!? After doing some research, students learned how Penguins also eat krill, squid, and other small sea creatures. To transfer their learning, students drew pictures and included the information in their "Zoologist Folder"

We can't wait to learn about Penguin predators, their life cycle, and other interesting facts! Check back soon to see what our Zoologists discover next!

Sincerely,

Room 1 and Room 2
Ms. Shustack and Ms. G
